Ok so I just saw the movie avatar in 3D. Awesome movie, really enjoyed it. The 3D wasn’t overdone, it didn’t detract from the overall experience of the movie like some do. It seemed very natural, as if it were meant to be. Then that got me thinking about keywords vs. content (on the way home from the movie, of course – much too much excitement during) So many times on sites like ezine articles I really get the feeling like I’m watching a crappy 3D movie where there’s always a sword being pointed at me for no reason at all. It’s distracting and pointless to the story, just like when I notice blatantly obvious keywords popping out at me in an article. When my attention is always drawn to a key word or key phrase, it totally blows the feel and flow of the actual article, making me not want to read it at all. Is it that I’m biased to notice such things because I make a living of it? Maybe, but I don’t think so. I think everyone and their mother would notice 10 instances of ‘cheapest web hosting’ in a 500 word article. So what’s to be done? Edit it, make it natural, don’t aim for a keyword percentage, aim for an informative or thought provoking article. Doesn’t it amaze you that internet copywriting has deteriorated to the point where so-called “article writing software” is a profitable venture? Since when is software creative? Since when does anyone care about reading something nobody actually wrote? 3D filmmakers and internet copywriters alike – don’t waste my time, focus on the storyline.
